Each year various community leaders of the Best South West join their efforts to inspire and motivate emerging leaders in an annually held leadership development conference. Students attending the conference must have exhibited strong leadership ability within their school and their perspective organizations. Matthew McQuaid and Christopher Smith were chosen based upon their consistent showcase of unique leadership qualities and characteristics. Both Matthew McQuaid and Christopher Smith were outstanding students in Sports Marketing and/or Marketing Dynamics Internship.
Matthew McQuaid was enrolled in our Marketing Dynamics Internship last year where he impressed executives and VP from AT&T with his integrity, great attitude and strong work ethic. Both gentlemen are also leaders and captains on the Boys Basketball Team at Duncanville HS.
Over time Matt and Chris both have greatly improved their communication skills. I told them because of the talent and character that both of these fine young men possess that doors and opportunities will inevitably avail themselves to them. I further challenged them to be prepared as young professionals in order to capitalize on these networking/career building opportunities both on and off the court.
Both Matt and Chris have positively responded to the challenge and we are very excited to see what the future will hold for these young men who are now viewed as young leadership icons in the community. I predict they will develop to become in a few years, leadership champions that will return to share their stories of success with the community of Duncanville and at the Leadership SW Conference.
